288/365

sitting on a porch
in the darkness
contemplating grace.
cashing in years
of accrued tenderness
and trust. the wine
gives us acid reflux
while the confessions
set us free. it’s
remarkable the number
of stories we withhold from
our friends before
we set them free. let me tell
you about internalised
oppression and growing up
in marin. tell me about
tamil and hindi and
how we hurt the ones we
love and our desperate need
for attention. shame and joy
and doing the right things.
each of us needing to be
heard and hugged and understood.
