Poetry Thursday- August 31st

This is what I was supposed to do this week for poetry Thursday:

We invite you to pick out a poem you love, then print it out, photocopy it or write it out by hand, and carry it around with you all week. You can stick it in your purse, wallet or back pocket. The idea is simply to have it with you at all times so you can pull it out and read it whenever you have a minute or two. We also hope the exercise will give you a heightened awareness of that poem, and of poetry in general, as you go about your daily activities.

I was so excited when I first saw this prompt. I was going to go home and find a great poem and follow through. But before I knew it, it was Thursday and I had yet to even pick the poem. So although I didn’t have the opportunity to carry this poem around with me this week, I thought maybe some of you would enjoy it for the next few days. I have also added a picture I took in Isfahan a few years ago when I was in Iran.

We are the mirror as well as the face in it.
We are tasting the taste this minute
of eternity. We are pain
and what cures pain. We are
the sweet, cold water and the jar that pours.

Rumi

I pretty much think you don't have a clue about the US.

  2. Great comment. I think it really opens dialogue. I also appreciate the fact that you remained anonymous. Great job.
