223/265

how did we become
so jumbled in each others lives?
getting under skin. in between teeth,
don’t get me wrong, these images don’t
have to carry negative connotations.
our entanglements
pushing and pulling.
ebbing and flowing.
can be good. productive.
intimate. professional
friends. family.
colleagues. students
children. parents,
are meant to be a series of
knots we cannot untangle
each other from.
where can we learn to listen
and not step on toes
and wield words to be clear
and precise and connecting.
how might we name the different
textures of love, so that we’re
all speaking the same language?
